The third addition to the coaching staff: Pat Brown former defensive coordinator and cornerbacks coach for Widener College. Prior to his arrival at VMI, he worked as a licensing associate at Brookhaven National Laboratory, and he is a retired, commissioned officer who served for 30 years in both the active and reserve components of the U.S. Navy. Geographically anchored in Africa in general and South Africa in particular, his research emphasizes global themes, notably the encounters between Africans and non-Africans and the dynamics unleashed by these encounters in terms of knowledge production and racial, ethnic, religious, and linguistic identity formation.
